Local guide
Four river towns that became one city, from Broderick and Bryte to Southport
West Sacramento is a young city with old neighborhoods. Broderick, Bryte and West Sacramento were known together as “East Yolo” for most of the last century, and they became the City of West Sacramento on January 1, 1987. The Port opened to ocean ships in 1963 with the Deep Water Ship Channel, and Southport, south of the channel, now covers about half of the city. 53,915 people lived here in the 2020 census.
West Sacramento runs its own bulky pickup program through the city. When items are still inside, there’s more than the program takes, or you need it gone now, our crew hauls it, priced by truck space.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Population (2020 census) | 53,915, up from 48,744 in 2010 |
| Households (2020) | 19,550, in 20,245 homes |
| Owners vs renters (2020) | 57.4% owner-occupied, 42.6% rented |
| ZIP codes | 95605, 95691 |
| Incorporated | January 1, 1987 |
| County | Yolo County (not Sacramento County) |
| Largest employers (2025 city report) | California Department of General Services (3,000), CalSTRS (1,401), Washington Unified (766) |
Neighborhood by neighborhood
Where we work and what we see
| Area | Typical needs |
|---|---|
| Bridge District and the riverfront | Newer apartments and townhomes near Sutter Health Park. Good fits: move-out cleans between leases and regular cleaning for smaller units. |
| Broderick and Bryte | The older neighborhoods north of the ship channel. Good fits: deep cleans, and hauling away old furniture, sheds and garage contents. |
| Southport, including Bridgeway, Gateway, River Ranch and Newport | Family neighborhoods south of the channel. Good fits: every-two-week cleaning and move-in cleans. |
| West Capitol Avenue and Washington | Older streets, apartments and small businesses near the Tower Bridge. Good fits: move-out cleaning and small-office cleaning. |
With so many renters, West Sacramento move-outs often run on a property manager’s inspection date. Tell us the date when you book. We clean inside the oven, fridge, cabinets and closets, and come back free if the manager documents something we missed.
How junk removal pricing works
Our truck is divided into fractions, and you pay for the space your items take, not by the hour. A single armchair is a minimum load; a sofa or mattress is about a quarter truck; a one-car garage is often three-quarters to a full truck.
| Load | What usually fits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum load | 1–3 small items | $75–$150 |
| ¼ truck | A sofa, mattress or a few appliances | $150–$250 |
| ½ truck | A small room cleanout | $250–$375 |
| ¾ truck | Garage or storage unit contents | $350–$475 |
| Full truck | Full room, estate cleanout, major debris | $450–$600 |
Local rules
West Sacramento bulky item pickup vs hiring a junk removal crew
West Sacramento offers a bulky waste pickup appointment service for residents. Check the city's solid waste page for current limits.

Free curbside programs are a good deal if you can carry everything to the curb, wait for an appointment and stay under the size limit. Hire us when you need it gone today, when items are inside the home or upstairs, when the load is bigger than the curbside limit, or when you’ve used up your free pickups.
Where your junk goes
We sort every load. Usable furniture and household goods are donated where possible, metals and appliances go to recyclers, mattresses go through California’s mattress recycling program, and only what’s left goes to a licensed transfer station.
Paint, chemicals, motor oil, fuel, batteries and fluorescent bulbs are household hazardous waste. We can’t haul them, but Sacramento County’s North Area Recovery Station (4450 Roseville Road) runs a free household hazardous waste drop-off. Check the county’s current hours before you go.
Clean-out plus clean, in one visit
We’re the Sacramento junk removal company that also cleans. Landlords, realtors and families clearing a home can book the haul-out and a move-out clean together, from $400 for the clean, with one crew and one invoice.

Homeowners, landlords & realtors
Getting a West Sacramento home ready to rent or sell
Much of our work in West Sacramento is helping people at the moments a home changes hands: tenants moving out, owners getting a rental ready for the next tenant, sellers preparing for listing photos, and new owners or renters moving in. We clean houses, apartments, condos and offices: empty or furnished.
| Situation | What we do |
|---|---|
| Rental turnover | Haul away anything the last tenant left, then a full move-out clean with inside appliances, cabinets and closets. |
| Getting ready to sell | Clear clutter and old furniture, then a deep clean before photos and showings; windows and carpet on request. |
| Moving in | A move-in clean so kitchens, bathrooms and closets are clean before your things arrive. |
| Moving out | A landlord-ready clean and free re-clean if your landlord documents something we missed. |
One company for the clean-out and the clean means one appointment, one crew and one invoice. Move-out cleaning starts at $400; junk removal at $75.

West Sacramento is its own city in Yolo County, directly across the Sacramento River from downtown Sacramento. Neighborhoods include the riverfront Bridge District, Broderick, Bryte, Washington and the newer Southport area to the south.
Because it is a separate city in a different county, West Sacramento runs its own solid waste program, so pickup rules differ from Sacramento’s.

What to expect
How a junk pickup works, start to finish
- 1You text a photo or book a time. We reply with a price range based on how much truck space the load looks like it needs.
- 2We call or text when the crew is on the way, inside the arrival window you picked.
- 3The crew looks at everything in person and gives a firm price before anything is lifted. If it’s less than the range, you pay less; if you decide not to go ahead, there’s no charge.
- 4We carry everything out (from bedrooms, upstairs, the garage, the backyard or a storage unit) and protect doorways and floors along the way.
- 5We sweep or rake the spot where the items were, then sort the load: donation, recycling, and only what’s left goes to a licensed transfer station.
Most single-item and small-load pickups take under an hour on site. A full garage or a whole-home cleanout usually takes a few hours to a full day, depending on how much sorting you want done on the spot.
