Clear it out, then clean it: one crew
We’re the Sacramento junk removal company that also cleans. Landlords, realtors and families clearing a home can book the haul-out and a move-out or deep clean together: one appointment, one invoice.

Free city pickup for furniture
City of Sacramento residential customers get two free household junk pickup appointments per year, available February through October (appointments stop in mid-October for leaf season). Appliances and e-waste are booked separately, also free, twice a year, year-round. Book through 311 or Sac311.org; piles can be no larger than 4 × 4 × 9 feet and go out no earlier than 24 hours before the appointment.
If you need it gone sooner, it’s upstairs, or it won’t fit the curbside limit, we take it from inside.
Donation first
Sofas, tables and dressers in good condition are donated where possible. Upholstered furniture with stains, tears or odors usually can’t be donated and is disposed of properly.
Donation
Which furniture can be donated, and which can’t
Donation centers are pickier than most people expect. Here is what usually decides it:
| Usually donated | Usually not accepted |
|---|---|
| Solid wood dressers, tables, bookcases and desks | Upholstery with stains, tears, pet damage or smoke odor |
| Clean, intact sofas without rips or sagging | Sleeper sofas with broken mechanisms |
| Dining chairs and outdoor metal furniture | Particleboard furniture that has been taken apart and rebuilt |
| Working lamps and mirrors | Mattresses and box springs (recycled instead) |
We set aside donation-quality pieces as we load and take them to local donation partners. Anything that can’t be donated is broken down so wood and metal can be recycled where possible.
Hard-to-move pieces
Sectionals, sleeper sofas and pieces that won’t fit through the door
Furniture often went in before a doorway was trimmed or a railing was added. When a piece won’t come out the way it went in, we take off legs and cushions, separate sectional pieces, remove doors from their hinges if you agree, or disassemble frames. Sleeper sofas are heavy because of the steel mechanism inside. Tell us when you book so we bring enough hands.
If a piece truly can’t leave intact, we can cut it down on site, with your permission, rather than risk your walls and floors.
Moving soon?
Furniture removal before a move
Moving companies charge by weight or time, so hauling furniture you don’t want to the new place costs money twice. Clearing it first means a smaller, cheaper move and an easier move-out clean. We can remove the furniture one day and clean the empty home on another, or do both in one visit.
Compare your options
Cheapest way to get rid of it: DIY, dumpster, city pickup or a hauler?
| Option | What it really costs | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Haul it yourself | Truck rental or your own vehicle, fuel, transfer station fees, and your time and back | You have a truck, helpers and only a few items |
| Rent a dumpster | Rental for several days; a permit if it sits on the street; you still do all the loading | Long projects like a remodel where debris builds up over weeks |
| City or county curbside pickup | Free within yearly limits, but you carry everything to the curb and wait for an appointment | You can wait, can lift it yourself, and the pile fits the size limit |
| Apex Home Point | $75–$150 to $450–$600 by truck space, firm price on-site; we do all the lifting | You want it gone soon, it’s inside the home, or it’s too heavy or too much |
Many people mix options: they use the free curbside pickup for one bulky item, and book us for the rest of the garage or the heavy pieces upstairs.
Free options first
Free bulky item pickup across the Sacramento area
Before you pay anyone, check whether your city’s free curbside program fits. Rules differ by city:
| Where you live | Free pickups | How to book |
|---|---|---|
| City of Sacramento (including Natomas) | 2 household junk appointments a year, February–October; appliances and e-waste booked separately | Sacramento 311 |
| Unincorporated county (Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Arden-Arcade, Antelope, North Highlands) | 1 pickup per 12 months, up to 5 cubic yards | (916) 875-5555 |
| Elk Grove | Up to 3 a year, up to 5 cubic yards each | Republic Services, (916) 635-2500 |
| Folsom | Up to 3 a year for single-family homes, up to 5 cubic yards each | City of Folsom |
| Citrus Heights | 3 a year | Republic Services, (916) 638-9000 |
| Rancho Cordova | Scheduled through the city’s hauler | Atlas Disposal, (916) 288-2800 |
| Roseville, Rocklin, West Sacramento | Programs vary | Your city’s solid waste department |
Curbside programs need you to carry everything to the curb, wait for an appointment and stay under the size limit. Hire us when items are inside the home, when you need them gone sooner, or when the pile is bigger than the limit.

What to expect
How a junk pickup works, start to finish
- 1You text a photo or book a time. We reply with a price range based on how much truck space the load looks like it needs.
- 2We call or text when the crew is on the way, inside the arrival window you picked.
- 3The crew looks at everything in person and gives a firm price before anything is lifted. If it’s less than the range, you pay less; if you decide not to go ahead, there’s no charge.
- 4We carry everything out (from bedrooms, upstairs, the garage, the backyard or a storage unit) and protect doorways and floors along the way.
- 5We sweep or rake the spot where the items were, then sort the load: donation, recycling, and only what’s left goes to a licensed transfer station.
Most single-item and small-load pickups take under an hour on site. A full garage or a whole-home cleanout usually takes a few hours to a full day, depending on how much sorting you want done on the spot.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
How much does couch removal cost in Sacramento?
+
A single sofa usually costs $150–$250 (a quarter truck). A small armchair alone is a minimum load, $75–$150.
Can you take furniture from upstairs?
+
Yes. We carry items down stairs and out of any room. Tell us about tight stairways when you book.
Do you disassemble furniture?
+
We disassemble beds and large pieces when needed to get them out safely.
Can you take a sleeper sofa?
+
Yes. They’re heavier than regular sofas because of the metal frame inside: mention it when you book.
Will you take furniture from a rental I’m moving out of?
+
Yes. Furniture left behind is one of the most common reasons renters call us before a move-out clean. We can haul it and clean the empty unit (from $400) in one visit.
Do you take patio furniture and outdoor grills?
+
Yes. Metal patio sets go to scrap recycling. Propane tanks can’t go in the truck: exchange them at a store that takes them.
